In 2009 alone, Americans made 4 billion trips by bicycle! About 15 percent of the population rides for recreation, and 4.8 million Americans use them to commute to work.

If you're thinking about making a cross country move to a new address, would a city's infrastructure and amenities for bicycle transportation make the difference if you're deciding between locations? Madison, WI Free bike maps available throughout the city. Riders make about 11,000 trips through downtown every day.
Minneapolis, MN More than 100 miles of on- and off-street bicycle facilities.
New York, NY The Citi Bike Share program gives New Yorkers 24/7 access to thousands of bicycles for short trips around town.
Portland, OR Designated bike-only areas at traffic signals. Nearly 200 miles of bike lanes and over 75 miles of off-street bike paths.
San Francisco, CA More than 15,000 San Franciscans commute by bicycle. There's a bike shuttle across the Bay Bridge during rush hour.
Seattle, WA City's 10-year, $240-million plan seeks to add 450 miles of bike paths.
Tucson, AZ Tucson's East Pima Region has more than 700 miles of designated bikeways.
